Plateau State Government created the Ministry of Environment to ensure the Plateau State is neat and save from man-made and natural disasters.
The Ministry of Environment was created in 1999 then as Ministry of Environment and Solid Minerals then became Ministry of Housing and Environment and then Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment and since 2011 is known as the Ministry of Environment till today.
The Commissioner of Ministry of Environment Plateau State Government who is a political appointee and as the political head of the Ministry provides guidelines for the Ministry which are in alignment with policies and programs fro the Government of Plateau State.
The Permanent Secretary is the administrative head and accounting officer who oversee the day-to-day operations of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. You can count a total of departments within the Ministry of Environment and they include;

The Plateau State Ministry of Environment was inaugurated as member of National Steering/National Technical Committee and represented the North Central States of Nigeria on the United Nation Revised Framework for the Development of Environmental Statitics(FDES)
